Dr. Vasileios Laopodis
Vasileios Laopodis studied Physics in the Athens University and continued his post-graduate studies in Toulouse, France in Informatics (D.E.A and Doctorat de Specialite) and Business Administration (M.B.A - I.A.E). He worked in various positions of responsibility in the private sector (IBM, FIAT, PYRAMIS bank, consualting companies, etc), in the Higher Education (ATEI Athens, Athens University of Economics and Business, University of Aegean) and in the European Committee (1988-2006). Vasileios Laopodis published over 120 papers in conferences, journals, newspapers and specialized magazines. Founding member of Hellenic Society of Scientist & Professionals of Informatics, Employees Association of IBM Greece, Vice-President of ΚΗΥΚΥ, Vice-President of CEPIS, member of WG IFIP, Board Member of Club Οf Rome/EU-Brussels Chapter and Europe of Cultures Forum, and several NGO at Greece and abroad and President of i-skills SA. Vasileios Laopodis founded CulturePolis (2006) at Corfu and since then, he is the President of the Board of CulturePolis.
Dr. Ioannis Karydis
Ioannis Karydis grew up in Corfu. He received a BEng (2000) in Engineering Science & Technology from Brunel University, UK, an MSc (2001) in Advanced Methods in Computer Science from Queen Mary University, UK and a PhD (2006) in Mining and Retrieval Methods for Acoustic and Symbolic Music Data from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. He is currently as an adjunct lecturer at the department of Informatics, Ionian University. He is an active member of scientific committees of conferences, magazines and computer competitions since 2002. Moreover, he is member of the Board of CulturePolis since it's foundation. Lately he is the Secretary of the Board and a supporting member in technology and informatics issues.
Maria-Louiza Laopodi, MSc
Studied Interior Architecture in Brussels and Kent and Festival Producing & Management in Edinburgh where she obtained her Masters' degree in 2002. She has worked at the Lambrakis Research Foundation, in festivals in Greece and Edinburgh and has collaborated with construction companies between 2006 and 2010. Presently she is collaborating with the American School of Classical Studies in cultural heritage preservation projects. She has published her dissertation entitled “Cultural Democracy: The Way Festivals Affect Society”, 2002, www.dissertation.com. Founding partner of CulturePolis and since its foundation member of the Board. During the last years she is Treasurer and responsible for international contacts for the Board. She is involved in the compilation and submission of proposals for national and EU projects for public and private funding as well as in the projects' management.
Dr. Maria Ovale
Lila Skarveli, ΜΑ
Lila Skarveli is a Graduate of the National Superior School of Fine Arts, Athens, 1972-1979 - Master in Arts and Art History – special mention. Applied arts diploma - pedagogy and psychology of learning. Specialized in Cultural diversity, intercultural dialogue and cultural development projects, as well as enhancement and promotion of cultural and creative industries. A Greek native speaker, she is fluent in English, French and Spanish. She lives and works in Paris since 1989. Lila Skarveli has been involved, both with UNESCO and as Secretary general of Reseau Culturel Europeen de Cooperation au Developpement and Artistes sans Frontieres (NGOs under French law), in the development of cultural resources. She has a vast experience of working with a wide range of Public Bodies – UNESCO, EU, French Technical Assistance coupled with significant knowledge of National Ministries and NGOs in a wide range of countries from the Middle East to the Western Balkans. She is co-ordinator of transnational action taking charge of partnership agreements, networking, coordination of activities as well as monitoring and evaluation procedures for cooperation projects and follow-up. She has over 20 years of working experience in French NGOs, training skills (conception and design of cultural development projects, institutional and civil society capacities building, visibility, technical assistance) Consultancy assignments for Institutions (such as UNESCO, EC, UNDP) on the theme of Culture and Social Cohesion as well as for Cultural Industries Development.
